High-Level Discussion on “The Rise of Autonomous Systems: Implications for Defence and Security in Africa”.
The International Security Conference on Africa (ISCA) will convene a High-Level Discussion on 12 August 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda, bringing together policymakers, security leaders, researchers, technology experts, and development partners to examine the implications of the rise of autonomous and AI-enabled systems on Africa's defense and security landscape. Through two expert panel discussions, participants will explore emerging threats, security transformation, governance, ethics, legal and policy frameworks, and Africa's technological preparedness. The dialogue aims to produce practical policy recommendations to strengthen strategic autonomy and defense readiness.
